Porthtowan has its own Ice Cream Parlour 'The Moomaid' which, sells delicious ice-cream and is well worth trying. The Beach Café in Porthtowan also sells great food during the day. The house itself has an enclosed garden at the rear which is a sun trap on sunny days whilst keeping the wind at bay. The house's proximity to the beach makes it easy to wander from the house down to the beach in your wet suit ready to enjoy the waves for the day.
