Those looking to test out their swing can do so at the excellent Kilkeel Golf Club, or if that isn’t your thing, why not enjoy a leisurely stroll along Kilkeel’s picturesque harbour (one of Great Britain’s largest working fishing harbours), make a stop at the Seascope NI Lobster Hatchery and Marine Research Centre, or relax, unwind or workout at Kilkeel’s leisure centre equipped with state of the art gym, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi? For a day the beach, head to nearby Cranfield where you can bathe or take to the waters on your kayak, paddleboard or canoe, overlooked by the Magnificent Mountains of Mourne sweeping down to the sea, or pay a visit to the resident Cranfield Alpacas. Greencastle rests nearby and is home to a remarkable 13th-century castle, a must-see for any history buffs. Alternatively take a day trip via the short ferry ride across to Carlingford in the South of Ireland (Irish Republic). Slightly further afield you will find the bustling city of Newry, where you can enjoy the delights of Newry and Mourne Museum, and array of shops and department stores, as well as the superb National Trust Derrymore House.
