The beautifully situated cottage provides comfortable holiday accommodation for up to 2 adults and 2 children, with a double bedroom and an alcove off the hall for the children. Originally a farmer's cottage, Mourne Heights is set amidst spectacular scenery at the very edge of the Mourne Mountains, with superb views across hills and sea. Yet just a short drive away is Newcastle town centre, with its excellent restaurants, cafés and promenade. Ideal for a relaxing break or an active holiday.
The cosy self-contained apartment has a spacious living room/kitchen, FreeSat TV, WiFi, bathroom with shower, washing machine etc. Outside there is a patio/BBQ area, garden and private parking. The accommodation is certified by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
Pets are welcome, by arrangement.
The cottage is situated at the end of a quiet lane, on the lower slopes of the Mournes. It is a peaceful and calming location, the only through traffic being occasional walkers and perhaps a horserider.
One of the gates to Tollymore Forest Park is next to the cottage, leading to superb forest walks with spectacular views over the mountains and patchworks of fields. For the more adventurous there is another path from the cottage leading onto the mountains, allowing direct access from the house to peaks such as Slieve Donard or to the Mourne Wall (walking boots needed!).
There is a patio for relaxing on, with marvellous views over the sea and countryside. Small private gardens adjoin the side and back of the cottage. There is also a large grassed area on the other side of the lane, which is shared with the owners.
Newcastle town centre is only a few minutes by car, but there's also a lovely walk there mostly on quiet lanes and a riverside path.
Located in Newcastle, this cottage is in a rural area and in the mountains. Drumena Cashel and Annalong Corn Mill are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at La Belle Femme Nail Bar & Beauty Lounge and Royal County Down Golf Course. Looking to enjoy an event or a game while in town? See what's happening at Life Adventure Centre or Downpatrick Racecourse. Swimming offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with mountain biking, hiking, and horse riding nearby.
