On the banks of Derwentwater, where you can hire a boat or take a dip if you need to cool off, you will find Theatre by the Lake, with award-winning arts and drama performances. Try Puzzling Place, an optical illusions-based attraction, or the Derwent Pencil Museum, where you can see the largest pencil in the world. If you prefer the wild side, you can enjoy a day at The Lake District Wildlife Park at Bassenthwaite (8 miles) or The Lakes Distillery with daily tastings. If you like walking, cycling, and climbing you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and routes around Latrigg, Catbells; nearby you’ll find Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn to name a few.
