Awarded the coveted 5 Star status from Visit England, 1 Priory Manor, a Grade II, Victorian Gothic Mansion, built in 1869 as a private residence for Manchester businessman William Carver. Priory Manor overlooks the beautiful grounds and rolling fields that lead down to the shores of Windermere, England's largest natural lake, the Langdale Pikes and beyond. To fully enjoy the breathtaking views, Mr. Carver added a Tower Room, giving him nearly a 360* view of this magical place.

Ideally located in the heart of The Lake District, it's the perfect base to take in the scenery, enjoy one of the many walks, from low-level
lakeside strolls to challenging felltop hikes. Priory Manor is centrally located, making it the perfect place to visit the historic villages of Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere, where you will find an abundance of pubs, restaurants and shops.

A few miles further out and you will find the picturesque villages of Hawkshead, Ambleside, Elterwater and Grasmere.
For those of you seeking solace, tranquility, inspiration and/or escapism and adventure, The Lake District is your "go to" destination.
Over the centuries it's jaw dropping beauty has inspired the likes of William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.

Today, The Priory has since been divided into two private, luxurious residences. The small terraced garden residences below the hedge of The Priory's private garden, were once the location of the green houses. The beautiful building to the right of The Priory, was the Coach House.

The main entrance, with its gorgeous gothic front door, is the entrance to 1 Priory Manor. The beloved tower room and grand staircase with the priceless stained glass windows, are all .are part of 1 Priory Manor.

Entering the residence through the gothic front doors, you will find yourself in the reception room. To your right, the grand staircase, home to "The Ladies of Priory Manor".

Six eloquent stain glass windows, depicting Peace, Love, Hope, Faith, Charity and Industry. These priceless masterpieces were commissioned by William Carver and must have had significant meaning to him. Look closely and you will see that his initials were part of the harlequin pattern.

The staircase will take you up to a lovely sitting area and a long hallway that leads to both the Master and Guest Bedrooms.
Follow the stairs up to the 3rd level and you will find a charming little getaway. Here you will find the final staircase that leads you up to the Tower Room, a great place to escape and have a cup a tea or a morning coffee.

Make your way back down the staircases and through the double doors, you will find the impressive drawing room with its beautiful view of the lake. Luxurious, yet cozy, this is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a day of touring.

Walk outside to the terrace, a perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat or share a bottle of wine. Follow the stone stairs down to the garden and then follow the private pathway that will take you down to the lake, a perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon.

The local grocery store, Booths, is located next to the train station, only a ½ mile away, giving you even more options to easily travel to London, Manchester and Edinburgh.

Priory Manor has a well-equipped kitchen, including the Nutribullet, Nespresso, Cappuccino Machine, Juicer etc.

Located in Windermere, this vacation home is in the mountains and on a lake. Old Laundry Theatre and Armitt Museum and Gallery are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Orrest Head and Windermere Golf Club. Holehird Gardens and Treetop Trek are also worth visiting. Kayaking and motor boating offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with rock climbing and hiking/biking trails nearby.
