West House at Westnewton offers rest, relaxation and a time to recharge for families or friends looking for the perfect base to explore the nearby Solway Coast and the Lake District National Park, along with other beautiful areas of Cumbria. It is also ideally situated to visit the Scottish Borders, Northumberland and the Northern Pennines.
Newly refurbished throughout, this late 19th-century detached cottage is two miles north of Aspatria and three and a half miles from the Solway coast at Allonby in the northwest of the Lake District.
The holiday cottage offers quirky but homely charm with its cottage styling and character features of a log burner, wood beams and the random low ceiling upstairs - look out for the 'duck' signs!
On the ground floor, you will find the bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and the first bedroom, a super-king-size double. You will find the snug and the second bedroom on the first floor with two single beds. This room can be set up as a super king bed on request, so let us know when you book. Extra features include a small collection of art and crafts from across this creative county, carefully chosen to compliment the cottage and your experience of it.
Outside, the paved patio area has stylish seating for al fresco dining and beautiful views across open countryside towards Skiddaw, Grisedale Pike and Whinlatter. Criffel can be seen from the front of the property. West House also features themed landscaped areas with a wildlife garden (currently being developed) and an outside garden toilet!
