The lodge is positioned in a tranquil setting between Keswick and Penrith, within a small group of similar lodges. It is four miles from the village of Greystoke with a traditional country pub and shop. This wood-built Scandinavian style lodge has floor-to-ceiling windows providing extensive open views over the countryside. The lounge /dining area is large, modern and recently furnished with a high vaulted ceiling and a wood burning stove for which logs are provided. The dining table comfortably seats six people. Additionally, there is an outside decking area with seating, perfect for enjoying summer evenings and admiring the often beautiful sunsets! For your entrainment there is a CD/radio together with a TV/DVD player and through the Roku box it is possible to access Freeview or log into your own streaming services, if you have a subscription. WiFi is available throughout the property.
The squirrel feeder positioned just outside the window allows guests to observe, from close range, the antics of red squirrels, which are frequent visitors helping themselves to nuts. Also, a variety of birds can often be seen feeding from the stations provided for them.
There are three bedrooms, a double, twin and a single. All are spacious and enjoy varied views of the local environment. All bedding is provided and built-in wardrobes along with chests of drawers, provide storage for personal items. If required a travel cot, bed guards and a high chair are also available.
There is a recently modernised shower room, which has a generous shower cubicle with a powerful electric shower, in addition to a toilet, washbasin and vanity unit. All we ask is that you bring your own towels, as only a shower mat and hand towel are provided.
While the Lake District is well known as a gastronomic paradise, if you choose to eat in the large kitchen is fully equipped for family catering including oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster. Ample space is available in cupboards for storing guest's provisions.
Outside there is a large garden area bordered on one side by farmers fields and on another by a small stream, Newsom Syke, which can be dry or flowing dependant upon weather conditions, so small children would require supervision. There is parking space for 2 cars, with possible additional space in the visitors parking area near the entrance to the site.
With bustling Keswick its shops, galleries, pubs restaurants and street markets and breathtaking Ullswater all within 30 minutes drive there's plenty to do within easy reach.
