Supermarkets
Opposite the cottage is RB Woodall -Home of the Cumberland Sausage by Royal Appointment- you can buy their sausages and it is a post office and small shop. Supermarkets are Tesco in Millom and a smaller Co-op in Seascale. We believe Tesco and Morrisons do a home delivery service along this coast.

Local Restaurants
Brown Cow pub is walking distance 5 mins, with good food and reviews.

Local Attractions
Less than a mile to the sea at the Esk river estuary. Eskmeals Nature Reserve with profusion of flowers on the dune grassland and on the salt marsh attracts a variety of insects and butterflies. Waders feed on the estuary whilst the dunes and shingle provide nest sites for breeding birds. You can continue along coast to Bootle beach which is c.3 miles and great for dogs, you can let them run free. But check tide times as when it is high tide you cannot drive directly down to the Esk estuary and on to Bootle beach as the road will be flooded. At high tide you will have to drive down A595 to Bootle to access that beach.

Trains
Bootle train station- 3 miles- this train service goes all the way up and down the coast.

Key Selling Points
Located in the peaceful village of Waberthwaite, within the Lake District National Park, spectacularly situated between the mountains and the sea. A sympathetic barn conversion in traditional lakeland stone and granite with vaulted ceilings and original wooden beams,(an example of the old traditional longhouses in northern England, built to house a farmer, his family and his animals in the same building). The cottage was converted in 2006-2007, with all modern conveniences. Set in its own spacious south facing garden with a neighboring stream, with a secluded patio which gets the sun all day. Waberthwaite is the birthplace of traditional Cumberland sausage, with the local family butcher producing Cumberland sausage for over 175 years, their village store is a stone's throw from Damson Cottage. The Esk estuary and Eskmeals Nature Reserve are within a mile's walk down a quiet country lane. A perfect base for exploring the spectacular western Lake District National Park fells and the coastal areas with their unspoilt countryside, coastal walks and cycle paths.
