Sawmill Cottage is a gorgeous, riverside, 18th century Lake District cottage with 4 double, en-suite bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, lots of oak beams, 2 real log fires and even a separate games room. Full central heating and hot water are included in the price.
The cottage has been very stylishly and tastefully furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The attention to detail throughout the cottage is a wonderful marriage of new and old.
The cottage is located in the tiny hamlet of Low Nibthwaite, just 1 mile from the southern shores of Coniston Water in the South Lakes and is 1 of 3 cottages that are situated by the River Crake at the end of a private lane.
The stunning, riverside location is blissfully peaceful and relaxing.
ACCOMMODATION DETAILS
The main sitting room is very spacious, light and airy with French doors and floor to ceiling windows looking & opening out onto the patio area with views to the river.
The sitting room has a wooden floor and ample room for 8 people with 3 large, soft leather and suede sofas arranged around the lovely log fire and large screen Smart TV.
Next door is the dining room and kitchen. The brand-new kitchen has been fitted out with top of the range German appliances including the latest technology 5 ring electric hob, 2 electric ovens, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, built-in microwave, internet radio with Spotify and all the pots, pans and crockery for you to cater in style for your self-catering holiday.
The ‘breakfast bar’ separates the kitchen from the dining room and the dining table seats 8 people. This lovely large room also find another real fire and another sofa too.
There are 2 sets of stairs that lead to the 4 bedrooms that are spread out across 2 floors.
All the bedrooms are furnished with brand new Sealy Posturepedic beds and mattresses and there’s new carpets throughout.
The main bedroom has a king-sized bed and regency style, ‘wrap around’ headboard facing towards stunning views of the River Crake. The French doors lead out onto a large balcony overlooking the garden and river. This is a wonderful place to sit, watch and listen to the relaxing and mesmerising sound of the river. This west facing balcony is THE place to sit for amazing sunsets over the river and trees.
There’s 2 further king-sized, en-suite bedrooms and 1 super-king-sized bedroom where the bed can be split into 2 single beds (please email us prior to arrival if this is your requirement).
One of the en-suite bathrooms is much larger than the other bathrooms and has an original ‘Jacob Delafon’, French cast iron roll top bath, refurbished of course!
On the 3rd floor you’ll find the ‘games room’, nicely tucked away from the rest of the house. Currently there’s a Wii games console, with a box full of games too, a sofa and TV.
Sawmill Cottage is everything a luxury Lake District cottage should be, with plenty of space and facilities for up to 8 people.
GARDEN
The cottage has a totally enclosed patio garden and decking area with an ‘all weather’ table and chairs for 8 people. A brick built charcoal BBQ is also provided.
A further large garden runs down the lovely River Crake that flows out of Coniston Water. Here you’ll find a bench for to sit and relax by this beautiful river.
The cottage also has private fishing rights on the stretch of the River Crake in front of the cottage. The most common fish in the river are sea trout and salmon, depending on the time of year.
PETS
Well behaved dogs are welcome for a charge of £20 for 1 dog or £30 for 2 dogs. Sorry, but we do not allow more than 2 dogs.
You must inform us before you book if you wish to bring a dog.
Non pet owners can rest assured that we spend this extra money on additional cleaning so that non pet owners wouldn’t know a dog has stayed in Sawmill Cottage.
This is a great area for dogs with plenty of walks from the doorstep. Sawmill Cottage is surrounded by mountains, fells, fields, footpaths, woods and riverside walks where your dog can have a great holiday too.
EV CHARGING
Sawmill Cottage has an electric vehicle EV charger in the private parking area.
The charger is available exclusively for use of guests staying at Sawmill Cottage and has a maximum output of 7.4KW.
The EV charger has a ‘type 2 tethered cable’. You simply plug it in your car, flick a switch in the cottage and relax!
We’re operating an ‘honesty box’ system where we ask guests to pay for the electric they use, that’s it, nothing else, no extra charges, just the current domestic billed rate.
Located in Ulverston, this cottage is in a rural area and on a river. Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway and John Ruskin Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Brantwood and St Mary Magdalene's Church. Traveling with kids? Consider Go Ape Grizedale, or check out an event or a game at Ambleside Climbing Wall. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
