Lake District. Sleeps up to 8

Wending your way along the Lakeland stone walled lanes of picturesque Elterwater, the holiday begins before you even arrive at The Wilfrid.

Set beneath the breathtaking backdrop of the Langdale Valley and its surrounding peaks, sense the stress melt away before you even step through the door of The Wilfrid, in the idyllic village of Chapel Stile. Chocolate box cottage charm combined with a luxurious contemporary boutique hotel finish.

In its exposed beams and log-burning stoves, The Wilfrid embodies the beauty and tranquillity of the Lake District, whilst in its ambient, spa-style ensuites and interior-design led stylings, this luxury holiday home offers the most decadent of creature comforts.

A warm welcome:

Arriving via the front entrance porch, head directly through into the stylish and spacious family breakfasting kitchen.

Designed with sociability in mind, deposit your food shopping for the week in the handy walk-in pantry before pulling up a perch on one of the Phillipe Starck bar stools gathered around the spacious central island.

Reach down to retrieve a chilled bottle from the wine fridge and raise a glass to happy holidays in sublime surroundings; from the window, gaze out on stunning views straight down the valley.

A natural hub, chat around the island with a drink as dinner is prepared on the electric Aga, in stylish aubergine. Dekton and French oak worktops provide plentiful preparation space, with all the essential appliances you would anticipate alongside a Smeg coffee machine and instant boiling hot water tap for your morning cuppa. Supremely spacious, different zones offer a new outlook; hang out in front of the fire, snuggled up in the plush wingback chairs, or seek solitude with a favourite book in the interior designer commissioned chair nestled within a nook.

Tucked off the kitchen is a boot room for kicking off your muddy boots and hanging wet coats as well as a separate WC and wash basin for your convenience.

Laid back living:

Spend quality time relaxing, playing games or simply leafing through a magazine in the sumptuously sized, south-facing sitting room where the original wood flooring captures the country vibe.

Stretch out beneath the original beams of the high ceiling, before the crackling warmth of the log-burning stove. Two large sofas are accompanied by a duo of cushioned window seats, framing views out over the Langdale Valley through the bountiful frames above.

Rest a while in the Fisk Arran armchair, commissioned in Scotland and made from local sheepskin, indicative of the luxury finishes of this Lakeland retreat. Admire the ornate iron light fittings throughout, custom made by a local craftsman.

Catch up on your emails at the desk, tucked away in the office nook under the stairs. The Wilfrid is served by excellent WiFi – with Google mesh WIFi boosters throughout promoting high speed connectivity.

Leaf through a magazine, plucked from the oversized Bluestone coffee table, dine beneath the spider lighting of the eight-seater dining table, or watch a movie on the Samsung television, framed to appear like artwork when in sleep mode; luxury finishes can be seen throughout this stunning home in the custom made throw cushions, window seats and upholstery made using Designers Guild and Osbourne and Little fabrics.

Take the stairs up from the sitting room, where glazed double doors within a box bay window frame unrivalled views over the Langdales, enticing you out to the patio and gardens beyond.

Stash away your clothes in the range of built-in storage within your own private dressing room, and pour yourself a glass of champagne from the wine cooler at the built in bar or a morning coffee in a local Herdy mug from the Nespresso machine and dress for the mood.

Refresh and revive in the ensuite, where colourful hand painted tiling coats the feature wall of the shower, containing rainfall Grohe showerhead, with separate hand-held attachment. Step out onto the warmth of underfloor heating and pluck a warm towel from the heated ladder rail. Twin wash basins inset within black granite means no waiting to brush your teeth before bed.

Spectacular scenery:

With the allure of the Langdale Pikes ever present, you needn’t go far to soak up their splendour. Step outside and survey their majesty from one of the three garden areas to the rear, directly in front and on the opposite side of the road to The Wilfrid.

Hedged borders provide privacy to the rear, with colourful flowerbeds painting the perfect backdrop to your summertime alfresco fun. Take a seat beneath the covered pergola at the top of the garden, with heaters and ambient lighting that provides panoramic views over the valley. What better way to see out another perfect day in paradise serenaded by the contented bleating of sheep?
