Each bedroom has been designed with comfort in mind and interior design is key throughout this wonderful property. Outside you will find a large patio area with enough seating for all, as well as a barbecue with rotisserie and outdoor fridge, a separate firepit seating area, a football pitch and hot tub for your own private use. The Retreat is the most wonderful place to gather for special occasions and family gatherings, whatever time of the year.
Ashbourne is rich in original cobbled lanes, old market stalls and grand Georgian buildings lining the streets. It also boasts a great selection of restaurants, interesting shops and traditional coaching inns to enjoy. Also within easy reach are the famous historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, renowned for their architecture and beautiful gardens. This really is a great base from which to explore the nearby Peak District delights such as Matlock and Matlock Bath, which has been attracting visitors since the 17th century. A host of other places to visit include Gulliver’s Kingdom, the Peak Mining Museum and the Heights of Abraham, which can be reached by cable car.
You can venture a little further north to the famous market town of Bakewell and the sample the tasty Bakewell Pudding from the original pudding shop. Or why not explore the well-known Tissington and Monsal Trails, where you can hire a bike and cycle for miles without seeing a single car? Add to this the famous Alton Towers Theme Park and you really are spoilt for choice. This is a fabulous cottage in a great location to enjoy at any time of the year. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
The Retreat can be booked together with Bumble Bee Cottage (UK10800), Butterpot Cottage (UK10801) and Bluebell Cottage (UK10802) to accommodate up to 28 guests.
