Nestled within 38 acres of private garden, parkland and private woods, Colleton Hall offers space and comfort for the ultimate getaway amidst nature. Rich in history and believed to originally date back to the Elizabethan times, this wonderful Georgian home combines a harmonious blend of original character and charm with modern interiors and touches. Its idyllic and unspoilt location provides an excellent choice for those wishing to explore what Devon has to offer and rolling countryside, moorlands, valleys and spectacular beaches are all easily accessible.

The space

Step inside the grand hall where you will be greeted by a sweeping staircase, exceptionally high Georgian Gothic ceilings and a host of impressive artwork. Fashioned with a combination of period-style décor and modern touches, its elegance is a sign of what the rest of the house has in store.

The drawing room is a fantastic place to gather for an evening of socialising. The comfortable sofas and open Georgian fireplace provide a cosy place to chill and relax, all whilst listening to a soundtrack of your choice played through the Sonos System (which spans across the entire ground floor). There is also a baby grand piano and card table for your entertainment, along with stunning antiques to encapsulate the traditional elements of the home.

Continue into the formal dining room where you will find an 18-seater regency table to enjoy delicious banquets, wine tasting and chatter beside the wood burner. The eclectic library can also be found here and is populated with a selection of books to read throughout your stay, or you can take advantage of the extensive collection of retro and contemporary board games.

The property has two kitchens, one for entertaining and the other for preparing meals (private chefs and caterers with waitress service can be arranged on request). The modern living kitchen is open-plan with stunning marble splashbacks, an island with six stools and two inviting sofas to relax on whilst you wait to dine. You will also have access to an induction Range Master cooker, a combi microwave, a large larder fridge, a dishwasher, a wood burner, a built-in Bosch coffee machine, a Smart TV and a pantry with a wine chiller. Meanwhile, the catering kitchen/utility room comprises an AGA, an electric range cooker, a dishwasher, a larder fridge, an upright freezer and two washing machines.

Next door is the handy boot room, perfect for your four-legged friends to snooze in during your stay. Wellie boots, inside and outdoor towels, dog towels, dog bowls and treats are all provided too. There is a second wine chiller in the boot room and a cupboard with games for outside.

There are two WCs on the ground floor with additional storage for coats.

Meanwhile, the games room provides hours of fun with a quarter-size snooker/pool table.

Head up the winding staircase in the reception hall or the additional staircase beside the kitchen where you will find six beautiful bedrooms with exceptional views of the lake or garden. There is a master bedroom with access to the private terrace and an en-suite, two additional king-size rooms, one with access to a private terrace, two double bedrooms and one bunk bedroom. All bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom, shower room or both.

Outside on the south-facing front terrace, there is enough seating to accommodate 10 guests under the vine, plus an additional table that seats 6. When the sun is shining, make use of the kitchen garden with complementary seasonal vegetables, dine alfresco using the Australian gas BBQ and admire the exceptional lake views. If you are lucky, you might even spot wild red deer roaming by. At night the borders and lake light up to create a magical setting for dark sky watching or a twilight stroll.

You will also have access to the estate's 38 acres of stunning grounds, including 25 acres of private semi-ancient woodlands, 10 acres of private parkland with a 350-year-old oak, 3 acres of gardens, a fire pit and a picnic area with solid tables and benches. If you are feeling adventurous during your stay, the owners provide a rowing boat, canoes and paddleboards for use on the lake. Or you can enjoy the more simple pleasure of feeding the resident ducks or playing a game of football, rounders and bowls on the lawn.
