Idyllic House Vast Views, Great For Winter Walks & Cosy Nights By Open Fires., Tiverton

Devon. Sleeps up to 14

Gogwell is a gorgeous place to spend time in and around, its a very comfortable, convivial, cosy house that lifts the spirits and recharges the batteries.
Downstairs is characterised by lovely oak floors, wood burning stoves & gorgeous interlined curtains to cosy up winters evenings.

Gogwell is on top of Newts Hill with incredible views - on a clear day you can see right out to the Sidmouth Gap over 20 miles away.

The house is a Devon longhouse with a full length South facing verandah. This verandah is a lovely place for long lunches, bbqs, reading and unwinding. The dining room spills onto the verandah from the North - it is a large, light, oak floored, open plan room with a wood burning stove for chilly nights. On the South side is the croquet lawn, huge views, the hammocks, swing and route to the ping ping room and the swimming pool.

The pool is heated from May to September. It is 15 meters long with two shallow ends perfect for home-rules water polo and long enough for fitness swimming (33 lengths = 1/2km). It is available for guests exclusive use for 23hours a day.

The house has an acre of fenced gardens, orchards and lawns.

INSIDE:
You enter Gogwell through the Boot Room. This is a spacious room, lined with an Ordnance Survey map with Gogwell at its centre.

This leads onto the open-plan kitchen which is well equipped and a great social place to cook in and 'entertain' from. The Kitchen is really well stocked with equipment and a lovely warming Aga, & extra oven & hob,

There is also a large mirrored drinks cupboard, with a separate drinks fridge.

There are two sitting rooms, one is designed as a snug/ TV room and the other as a more formal drawing room with book shelves, chess set, games, magazines etc - both have open fires.

Each of the six bedrooms at Gogwell has been simply furnished with beautiful fabrics, fine linen and extremely comfortable beds. There are three super-king beds (zip and link) , two twin rooms and one double. The master bedroom has a dressing room through its en suite bathroom which is suitable for small children to sleep in. There is an extra room outside for larger groups. There are two ensuite bathrooms, two bedrooms share a bathroom and then there is a 'Jack and Jill' arrangement between bedroom 1 & 2. The entire house was renovated and modernised in 2018.

Although Gogwell is accessed via a long drive and sits in the middle of a private farm it is far from remote. We are 17 minutes from Tiverton Parkway Station, the quickest train from London takes a little under 2 hours, the M5 motorway 12 minutes away and still Gogwell feels tranquil and far away from it all: Postcode EX16 4PP. Exeter is half an hour away, Exmoor is 40 minutes, there are two National Trust Houses less than 20 minutes away. Butterleigh Pub is walking distance. There are public footpaths in all directions including a lovely walk along the River Exe to Bickleigh.

This is a great place for families, family reunions & group gatherings, but it also suits smaller bookings too. The house can accommodate 12-14 guests but never feels too big for much smaller groups.

Fishing on the Exe can be arranged as we have a stretch of river available from Colliepriest to Black bridge - walkable from the house.

We can arrange mid week cleaning, cooks, 'food in the freezer', taxis as required.

Located in Tiverton, this vacation home is in a rural area. Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life and National Trust Killerton are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Tiverton Castle and Knightshayes Court. Traveling with kids? Consider Monsters Mansion, or check out an event or a game at Ian Moorcroft Stadium. Discover the area's water adventures with motor boating and fishing nearby, or enjoy the great outdoors with cycling and hiking.
