Glen Cottage, Newton Ferrers

Devon. Sleeps up to 4

There's a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere pervading the twin villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo, which accounts in no small part to this area being such a popular holiday destination. The beautiful Yealm estuary dividing the villages is alive with the busy movements of sailing dinghies and yachts attracted to this sheltered inlet. As you stroll through the winding streets lined with pretty cottages, there's not a caravan or camping site to be seen and several excellent inns and restaurants provide a range of enticing menus. Glen Cottage is ideally situated for the visitor, with a front garden and patio that extends right down to the foreshore so that on a sunny day it's a fantastic place to relax, enjoying a drink or alfresco dining whilst watching the colourful spectacle of boats on the water. The south-facing cottage, dating back to the 18th century provides comfortable accommodation and has deep-set windows with window seats in all rooms, giving great views of the creek. At the rear of the cottage a large garden provides a secluded haven in which to relax, with views to Noss Mayo.
Several sandy beaches are easily accessible, as is the South West Coastal Path that threads its way along this scenic coastline. Dartmoor National Park, the historic city and naval port of Plymouth and Celtic Cornwall are all within easy reach, but we think we should warn you that dragging yourself away from this lovely spot for long will not be easy.
