This delightful thatched terraced holiday cottage nestles in the pretty village of Stokeinteignhead, a hidden gem. Stokeinteignhead is a chocolate-box thatched village nestled in a sheltered valley near the sea in south Devon.

Just over 1 mile from the beach at Maidencombe, the property is spacious and has been furnished and decorated to a very good standard. There is a sunny courtyard area with table and chairs, perfect for al fresco dining. The local pub, dating back to the 17th century, is a 2-minute walk from the cottage and serves good food and real ales. There are many walks from the cottage including the South West Coastal Path, and the Teign Estuary, a great place for bird watching and nature lovers. Nearby, Shaldon is an idyllic little fishing village with quaint cottages and narrow winding streets, situated at the mouth of the Teign Estuary on the edge of the English Riviera and Torbay. Visit the award winning Ness beach by walking through the ’Smugglers Tunnel’, or stroll around the village and visit Shaldon Zoo and Homeyards Botanical Gardens.

Teignmouth is only 3 miles away, with many shops, Victorian pier and a theatre. The town of Newton Abbot, 4 miles, has a racecourse, a market on a Saturday, and a local farmers’ market on a Tuesday. Visit Paignton Zoo, Paignton Water Park or join the Dartmouth Steam Railway, which will take you to Kingswear, where you can get a ferry over to Dartmouth, or a trip up the river to Totnes. Dartmoor National Park with its heather-clad tors and ponies, and Exeter are only 20 minutes’ drive away. The Torquay area has a lot to offer - family theme park, the theatre, which has shows all year round, or take a ferry across to Brixham, to sample the fresh fish and seafood. The Jurassic World Heritage Coast and many National Trust properties are within a 1 hour drive. Community shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
