Autumn Rose is a grade 11 listed cottage built in 1802 and is approached via an original cobbled pathway. Many of the period features remain, including wooden beams, the flagstone floor and a large stone fireplace with a wood burner - perfect for cozying up in the wintertime with a good book from the great selection available.
To the front there is plenty of on street parking and to the rear a totally enclosed sunny courtyard garden, which is enhanced by an array of seasonal flowering plants, along with ample garden furniture. A barbeque is provided, ideal for a sunny evening and the catch of the day from the harbour fish market.
Autumn Rose is well equipped (the owner being a keen cook), and has a home away from home quality, traditionally furnished with relaxation at its heart. The newly refurbished period bathroom complete with a slipper bath is an irresistible invitation to wind down and take a long soak. (Bubbles provided). This makes this property ideal for couples, seeking a peaceful break, lovers of walking and hiking or families wishing to enjoy the beaches and local attractions. There is a great selection of toys, puzzles and games plus the quirky pirate themed Crows Nest loft room which is s always a big hit with children of all ages.
Beach towels, buckets and spades, fishing and crabbing lines and picnic basket and blanket are all available.
Pets deserve a holiday too, and the garden is perfectly suited, as are all the wonderful walks, so up to two well behaved dogs and owners are welcome, subject to additional fee.

The cottage is on the edge of Churston village and was built by Lord Churston for his tenants... spot which of the windows are false, and make sure not to use the front door. Allegedly the Lord didn't want his tenants racing onto the street to demand his attention when he passed in his carriage, so he built the (shared access) entrances at the rear of the cottages - but added a fake door for appearances sake.
Within walking distance is the The Railway Inn which serves excellent food plus a local farm shop with locally sourced supplies , cafe and play area, and a particularly good butchers. Agatha Christie's Greenway house is easily accessible via the steam railway, or for those that enjoy walking, there is the scenic route on foot. An easy ramble down quiet lanes and you will find the ancient woodland and an area of outstanding natural beauty . The main path through the woods pass through bluebell meadows, past old limestone kilns and lead to Churston Cove and the south west coast path which can be followed into the historic fishing port of Brixham with its vibrant mix of shops, cafes and restaurants. If you wish you can proceed on the coastal path taking you further afield to yet more stunning views and beaches.
There is a regular bus service to Brixham, Paignton and Torquay which is a five minute walk. Dartmouth can be reached by bus or steam train - services run from February half term to the end of December. Listen out for the train whistle which can often be heard from the cottage !
Christmas breaks are available with decorations and tree , from Dec 1st, light the fire and make the festive season a great time to getaway... local events take place from late November onwards, including the spectacular Christmas train of lights. Located in Brixham, this cottage is in a rural area and by the sea.
