About the property
If you love to gaze at ever changing views, spot wildlife, listen to the sounds of nature and be out on the water, this cottage ticks all the boxes. Standing on the banks of the River Torridge, this is the perfect place for a group of friends or family to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Mesmerising views alter with the rise and fall of the river's tide and there is always something to see such as herons and egrets. If you're feeling adventurous and are confident, take to the river on a canoe or kayak (available, along with life jackets, to rent) – there's direct access to the water from the garden. Meanwhile, the towns of Bideford and Torrington are a short drive away and there's easy access to the Tarka Trail for country walks and cycling.
The space
On the ground floor there's an open-plan living space comprising the kitchen and dining room, with a lovely limestone floor and underfloor heating, plus the lounge. There are fantastic floor-to-ceiling windows with views over the garden and the river.
The kitchen is equipped with everything to cater for family meals including a double oven, microwave, gas hob, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. There's a breakfast bar with stools where guests can sit and chat as dinner is prepared, as well as an armchair for relaxing whilst admiring those views. Meanwhile, the dining table extends to seat everyone comfortably and there is direct access to the garden.
In the lounge area there's sofa seating where you can get cosy and snuggle up beside the fireplace which has a log burner.
There is a separate TV/Games Room with a sofa, chairs and a table, as well as a 55” flatscreen TV, Sky Box, DVD player, X-Box, Sonos sound system and a variety of games and DVDs. The house also has high-speed internet.
Also on the ground floor is the utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, which has a shower room with WC off it.
When it comes to the sleeping arrangements, there are three bedrooms on the first floor. There are two spacious master bedrooms at each end of the house, one has a king-size bed, a sofa bed, a private balcony with river views and an en-suite shower room. The other has a super-king-size and an en-suite with a bath and a shower over. There is also a smaller twin room with two single beds and an en-suite shower room.
In addition, the sofa in the TV/Games Room converts to a bed suitable for two children, while on request the sofa in one of the master bedrooms can also be converted to sleep two more children.
In the garden there is a terrace with patio furniture and a gas BBQ, as well as a lawned area.
