It is 0.5 of a mile from Bantham, famous for its unspoilt sandy beaches and popular pub. There's a large log fire; private garden and ample private parking in a large courtyard. Think relaxing walks; seaside; surfing; cycling and golf.
Lonely Planet has rated Bantham Beach as the best beach in the UK and the 6th best beach in the whole of Europe. See link:

Perfect for relaxing family holidays.
Particularly well suited for exhausted parents with children who need entertaining, fresh air and activities.
The cottage is light, calming and a great base after a day at the beach. On your doorstep are stunning rural walks, great eateries; Bantham beach, the sea air, surfing and all manner of other outdoor pursuits. The Sloop Inn is about 0.4 miles away and we often stroll down for an evening meal with the children. It's very family friendly.
There's a famous golf course at Thurlestone which is only a mile or so away and wonderful old english pubs are dotted around the neighbouring villages.
In the outbuilding we leave a collection of battered bicycles and old wetsuits which you are welcome to use. We also have a log-store which is well-stocked, and you can help yourself for the evening fire. We always leave a variety of books, board games and DVDs for any rainy day.
Beach, seaside, surfing, country walks, cycling, pubs, local village shop (great coffee and croissants), gastrobus at Bantham (wonderful hot & cold food to eat at the beach). Further afield there's Kingsbridge for shopping (about 4 miles) and Salcombe (about 6 miles). A ferry runs between Kingsbridge and Salcombe which makes for a great day out.
In the cottage, there are 4 bedrooms. Two doubles (both with Kingsize beds); one twin and one single. There are two bathrooms, a lawn to play on and a large courtyard for parking. The courtyard is private and not shared.
It's an incredibly friendly community. You'll find it so welcoming. The local pub know just about everything that's worth knowing. The local marina at Bantham often hosts fun get togethers but the thing I most love is the sense of peace, tranquility and laughter that this stunning area of South Hams seems to generate.
Getting around
The nearest train station is at Ivybridge (about 13 miles away) with faster and more frequent services running from Totnes (about 16 miles away). There are fast, direct services from London to Plymouth (about 17 miles away).
In reality though, it's much, much more practical to have a car.
Other Things to Note
The entrance to the courtyard is quite narrow (see photo). All saloons, convertibles, estate cars and most 4x4s will be absolutely fine. Those with very large 4x4s or massive people carriers will find entering and exiting the courtyard quite challenging though, so much better in an estate car.
Located in Kingsbridge, this cottage is in a rural area and near the beach. Overbecks Museum and Garden and Start Point Lighthouse are local landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at South Devon and Dartmoor National Park. Sea N Shore and Salcombe Maritime Museum are also worth visiting. Snorkeling and windsurfing offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with horse riding and cycling nearby.
