Nestled sleepily in a corner of Bantham Village, Sherriffs is a thoroughly warm and welcoming ground floor holiday apartment. It’s perfect for families, particularly those with younger children or for anyone who has limited mobility.
Arguably the prime spot in this tiny South Devon Village. Across the road from the local pub and restaurant. A two minute walk from the quaint harbour on the Avon estuary and no more than 5 minutes walk down to Bantham beach - voted the 6th best in the world. It’s just as well this is an unpretentious and easy property as it’s surrounded by magnificence.
The large, light and airy galley kitchen has plenty of prep space, an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, large fridge, microwave, toaster and all the items you would expect to find in a well equipped family kitchen
The dining area is separated from the kitchen with a long breakfast bar and has a dining table for up to 8 people overlooked by an attractive farmhouse dresser. To the side is a lovely conservatory with ample seating, a television and views over the patio and garden all the way down to the river.
There are 3 comfortable Bedrooms
Bedroom one is a comfortable and spacious double room with French doors to a patio area with river views.
The second bedroom has twin beds, an additional pull out bed and a large chest of drawers. This room also has a washbasin and en-suite shower. A third family bedroom with bunk beds and a single bed, storage space and shelving containing a good collection of books for quieter days
There is a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, basin and toilet, along with an incredibly handy separate toilet and washbasin.
A small laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer and a small freezer can be found near the property entrance.
The garden has an extensive lawn with steps that lead down through the well maintained and attractive garden to a beautiful tree-lined path that goes down to Bantham Quay. There is outside seating for 8 people, perfect for sunset watching, alfresco dining and the occasional meteor shower!
A word from our owners - Liz and Roger
Roger first came down to Bantham as a young boy in 1952 and after many, many holidays down here over the years with family and friends they bought this property after an unexpected phonecall from the then owner told them they had half an hour to decide whether they wanted to buy it. Both decided that they didn’t want anyone else to have it and the deal was done. Three generations of family later they’re still enjoying holiday life down here as much as the family of Housemartins that nest on the ledge at the rear of the property.
“Nothing compares to those few days in Bantham, when you arrive, take a deep breath and relax into the village. It’s timeless and unchanging. Everything revolves around the tide and the silence and interrupted skies are just magical.”
