Written on some old deeds in rather ancient script were the words 'a field called crackle' referring to the land adjoining Bantham House, hence the name Cracklefield Cottage! Some 200 years old and originally part of Bantham House (but now entirely separate) this charming property is in the heart of the village of Bantham, situated a few yards along a quiet lane from the main street with its pretty thatched cottages and the ever-popular Sloop Inn. A short walk through the village, with its spectacular views of the Avon estuary and on across the 'ham' brings you to the dunes and the very special beach of Bantham. This is a paradise for surfers, beach lovers and walkers alike with its rolling surf, vast stretches of golden sand, and beautiful headland walks along the coastal path to Thurlestone and beyond. The cottage is friendly and comfortable, a real family home with a delightful fully enclosed courtyard garden.
Very comfortable, cosy, good quality. Wonderful location in this beautiful estuary. Everything works, interesting and well chosen pictures and lovely days on the beach. Thank you.
Another lovely stay at Cracklefield Cottage. Thanks for the cream tea on arrival.
