Topcliff Cottage is a delightful, detached cottage just a short stroll from the estuary and within a level walk of the unspoilt seaside village of Shaldon, which sits at the mouth of the Teign estuary. With many modern conveniences but still keeping hold of much of its character and charm, this property is ideal for a small family or couple keen to escape to the South Devon coast, with a public slip-way just a few yards from the front door, so you can take your paddleboards or canoe and explore the water and surrounding area easily. Outside there is parking for a medium-sized car and a private and enclosed courtyard-style garden with raised flowerbeds and mood lighting, providing a great space for alfresco dining. The accommodation is arranged over three floors and has been carefully renovated, preserving the character of the cottage but with a bright, modern twist and is tech enabled with features such as high-speed USB charging sockets and high speed WiFi throughout, plus an alarm system with key fob arming/disarming. From the hallway, you will find a comfy and spacious sitting room with Smart TV, bay window and a flame-effect woodburner, which creates a welcoming space to relax in after a day exploring. Across the hall is the contemporary, fully-fitted kitchen and cosy separate dining area with seating for four people, ideal for preparing delicious home-cooked meals and gathering together to enjoy them as a group. Upstairs on the first floor is the light and bright twin bedroom, along with a contemporary bathroom complete with luxury roll top bath and separate walk-in shower. Further stairs lead up to the Master double bedroom, tucked under the delightful wooden beamed ceiling and boasting a 5’ bed and a circular ‘wreckers’ window. Also on this floor, under the eaves is a den perfect for kids of all ages with a Smart TV, Xbox One and bean bags to lounge on. From Topcliff Cottage the village of Shaldon is only a short stroll away with several cafes, welcoming pubs and restaurants, along with shops and boutiques; the village has much to offer whatever the season. Tucked behind the Ness Headland, where the estuary meets the sea, you’ll find Shaldon’s very own zoo and a smuggler's tunnel, which leads down to a secret beach. The pedestrian ferry leaves from Shaldon and runs throughout the day and early evening, so you can enjoy venturing over to the bustling regency seaside town and port of Teignmouth, which also offers a mainline railway station. Further afield, the delights of Torbay are within easy reach or if you fancy heading for the hills, Dartmoor National Park is around a half an hour's drive, as is the fascinating city of Exeter. Make Topcliff Cottage your delightful base from which to explore South Devon.
