Upstairs the style and quality continues with a large super kingsize bed (zip and link) boasting quality linen and a wonderful modern en-suite shower room. Cowar Bothy is the perfect location for a relaxing getaway surrounded by stunning countryside in this beautiful corner of southwest Scotland.
Whilst you have the beauty of the stunning countryside at Cowar Bothy you are only a few miles from the charming little town of Dalbeattie with its array of small shops whilst Castle Douglas, Scotland’s food town, with an abundance of independent shops selling produce and quality gifts. Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas have a number of cafés, pubs and restaurants to enjoy a meal in, as well as an excellent butchers and food shops for you to sample the local produce.
This area of south-west Scotland is hugely popular with walkers and cyclists of all ages. The world famous 7Stanes mountain trails at Dalbeattie Forest offer some of the best mountain biking in the country and attracts riders from across the UK and beyond. For the walking enthusiasts there are many paths and trails throughout the forest as well as some magnificent walks along secluded beaches or dramatic cliff top.
Warmed by the Gulf Stream there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens National Trust and interesting historical sites and castles to explore. Enjoy a drive from Dalbeattie along the Solway Coast with its extensive sandy beaches, rocky coves, traditional fishing villages and harbour ports, such as Kippford and Rockcliffe. Beach 9 miles. Sweetheart Abbey and Shambellie House are local landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Kippford Beach and Threave Garden. Dumfries Ice Bowl and Dalscone Farm Fun are also worth visiting. Spend some time exploring the area's activities, including golfing.
