Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
Town: The town of Lockerbie is set in the lowlands of Scotland, in the Dumfries and Galloway region. Lockerbie has a range of amenities including pubs, restaurants, a bakery and a pottery. There are also facilities for curling and ice skating, with golf, cycling, walking and birdwatching all on offer in the surrounding area. The region has a wealth of history, and sites like Caerlaverock Castle, Drumlanrig Castle and Glenluce Abbey attest to that. Less energetic pursuits include visits to the many museums and galleries as well as Scotland's official Book Town of Wigtown. Added to this is the proximity of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Carlisle and this location truly offers something for everyone.
Located in Lockerbie, this lodge is in a rural area and on a lake. Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum and Moat Brae National Centre for Children's Literature are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Lockerbie Golf Club and Lochmaben Golf Club. Lockerbie Ice Rink and Chariots of Fire Carriage Driving Centre are also worth visiting. Practice your golf swing on a nearby course, or enjoy other activities in the great outdoors, such as cycling and hiking/biking trails in the area.
