Beautifully presented, The Dairy is a real home from home and the cosy interior boasts a wood burner in the living room while the kitchen/diner is the perfect place to sit and relax over a meal perhaps planning your next day’s adventures. With the owner’s attention to detail, you really are in for a treat staying here. Outside is just as inviting, with your own private decking area with hot tub as well as communal outside space.
The Dairy is set quietly on a working farm amidst the most glorious countryside nestling between the Galloway hills and forests to the north and the sweeping beaches of the Solway Firth to the south, and only a short drive to the historic market town of Castle Douglas with its array of small unique shops selling local produce and quality gifts and some excellent restaurants and cafés. If you want to explore more of this beautiful area then you couldn’t be better placed than at The Dairy as attractions are plentiful, from beautiful sandy beaches to dramatic cliff tops.
With sailing, swimming, horse riding, fishing, golf and water sports all close by, there is something for everyone. On your doorstep is the Red Kite Feeding Station where the red kites are fed daily at 2pm, it really is a fantastic sight to watch. There are many beautiful gardens to visit including National Trust Threave Garden. The Dairy is set on the fringes of the Galloway Forest Park, home to the first Dark Sky Park in Europe, and central to two of the 7Stanes, at Kirroughtree Forest and Dalbeattie Forest; it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers. Kirroughtree has some of the best technical single track mountain bike trails in Scotland. Beach 17 miles. Pub and restaurant 3½ miles.
The Dairy (ref UK41957) can be booked together with The Stables (ref UK41958) to accommodate up to 9 guests.
