Garden Cottage is idyllically situated within the corner of the walls of its own two acre walled garden. The location of the cottage nestling alongside the original, enclosed walled garden of the Estate is very special. This traditional Galloway cottage offers a complete escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The property has three bedrooms, a king size master and two twins. There is a very spacious dining/kitchen with table to seat 8. The dining/kitchen is cosy and characterful with a wood-burning stove. The kitchen has hob, oven, dishwasher and fridge. In a separate utility room off the kitchen there is a microwave, second sink, separate three drawer freezer and washing machine. There is an additional WC and cloakroom downstairs. The sitting-room has a south facing window overlooking the walled garden plus south facing french doors which open to the walled garden patio. There is a woodburning stove in the sitting-room too. Free logs are provided. The patio, with furniture and parasol, is a complete sun trap and is completely sheltered. The walled garden is enclosed and is pet and family friendly. We accept up to two dogs in the property. The cottage is family friendly with games, cards, BOSE sounds speaker, books, TV and DVD player. There is a cot and highchair too. Free wi-fi is included also. There is a bathroom with bath and shower over and the property has central heating.
Garden Cottage and Kirkdale Estate is superbly located to enjoy all the very best that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer. We are a coastal Estate with spectacular sea views over the stunning Solway Firth. There are beautiful walks from the front door of the cottage. Walk up to Cairn Holy, a top Historic Scotland recommended attraction, and enjoy panoramic sea views stretching as far as the eye can see. There are beaches and forests nearby, so there area is full of opportunities. There is a tennis court on the estate. There is a top seven Stanes mountain biking centre within 10 minutes of the cottage. Laggan Outdoor and GGs yard the rural venue and activity centre are five minutes away offering UK's longest zip-wire, archery, clay pigeon shooting, segway and more all with a cafe, again with amazing sea views, on site. There is golf, tennis, horse-riding, fishing, mountain biking and beach and forest walks all very nearby. For families, the extremely popular Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory and Cream o' Galloway are only 10-15 minutes from the cottage. There is sailing and water-skiing and other water sports at Galloway Activity Centre approx 35/40 mins from the cottage. Garden Cottage is a magical spot, come and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this newly refurbished cottage and you are free to seek out as much or as little activity as you wish.
This cottage is located in Newton Stewart. Stewartry Museum and The Whitehouse Gallery are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Cairn Holy Chambered Cairn and Broughton House. Laggan Outdoor and Cally Gardens are also worth visiting.
