Guests at Glenwhan Lodge are welcome to stroll through the gardens with its 17 acre moorland walk, the Ornamental Garden or follow the numbered tree trail where there is a large collection of rare trees, shrubs and many plants from around the Southern Hemisphere. After your time exploring the Gardens enjoy a cup of tea and delicious home baking in the Garden’s Tea Rooms. Further afield this delightful corner of South West Scotland is just waiting to be explored from the rugged coastlines with superb cliff top walks, breathtaking scenery around every corner, to secluded sandy beaches benefitting from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream. You will find golf courses and fishing fresh, water and sea, together with many unspoilt beaches. The Galloway Forest Park is nearby with world class mountain biking and walking to suit all levels. You can also find one of the UK’s first Dark Skies Parks in Galloway Forest. There are many pretty little ports to visit nearby including Sandhead, Portpatrick and the Isle of Whithorn, as well as the RSPB Mull of Galloway nature reserve, where thousands of sea birds nest in the cliff face during spring and summer. The sporting enthusiast is well catered for in the area from wild swimming, fishing, mountain biking at the nearby 7Stanes routes at Kirroughtree and water sports for all.
