The beautiful sea side town of Bridlington (with it's famous resident David Hockney) is 3 miles away and Scarborough is just 12 miles, both definitely worth a day out with lots for all the family. The beautiful Victorian town of Filey with its stunning promenade and magnificent 5 miles of golden sands is a lovely resort to visit on route to Scarborough. Much of the local Yorkshire Wolds/Woods have been the subject of Hockney's paintings. Burton Agnes Hall - Built between 1598 and 1610 by Sir Henry Griffith, Burton Agnes Hall is an Elizabethan stately home that has seen fifteen generations fill the Hall with treasures, from magnificent carvings commissioned when the Hall was built to French impressionist paintings, contemporary furniture, tapestries and other modern artwork in recent years. Sledmere House - There is something about the charm of Sledmere which has captivated visitors for over 200 years. Whether you just want a relaxing day looking around the gardens enjoying lunch in the Terrace Café or want to look at fine examples of art and architecture there is something for everyone at Sledmere. RSPB Bempton Cliffs - easily the best place in England to see, hear and smell seabirds! More than 200,000 birds (from April to August) make the cliffs seem alive - with adults bringing food to their nests, or young chicks making their first faltering flights. With huge numbers to watch, beginners can easily learn the difference between gannets, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars. The easily recognisable puffins (here between April and July) are always a delight. Sewerby Hall - situated 2 miles north of the seaside resort of Bridlington, on the East Yorkshire coast. The grade I listed country house is set in 50 acres of landscaped gardens in a cliff top location on the outskirts of Sewerby village.
