Heathfiled 3.4 miles. This charming cottage rests within the grounds of the owner's home, surrounded by countryside, a private paddock and lovely outbuildings, in the quiet village of Burwash near Heathfield in East Sussex. Stables Cottage is a quaint rural retreat for a couple or small group of four wanting to enjoy the best of the countryside and coastline of Sussex, within the High Weald AONB, as well as being a 30-minute drive from the coastal resorts of Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill on Sea. Enter the property to discover a fantastic renovation to the highest standard, with each room immaculate, bright and airy, starting with the living/dining room, which offers sleek wooden flooring, lovely vaulted ceiling with spotlights, dual aspect windows with shutters, looking out onto the garden, a wall-mounted TV, a choice of cosy armchair and sofa, which transforms into a double sofa bed, as well as enjoying the warmth from the wonderful woodburning stove and a dining table where you can gather together to enjoy a home-cooked meal. From here, you will find the spacious king-size double bedroom with vaulted ceiling and Velux window, so you can admire the view from the comfort of your bed, as well as the brand new bathroom suite, with fully tiled marble and a choice of shower over bath to prepare for each day. With the king-size bedroom and spacious double sofa bed, Stables Cottage is great for a family of four, also allowing a fifth little one to sleep in the cot provided. Down a set of stairs is the large, lower-ground-floor kitchen, recently fitted to a high standard, with all the mod cons you could wish for, including a dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, washer/dryer and a Nespresso machine for that morning caffeine boost, which can be enjoyed in the enclosed rear patio garden, where you'll find outdoor seating, a barbecue and fire pit, perfect for long summer nights outdoors enjoying great food, wine and company. There is off-road parking for 3 cars, as well as use of the owner's private paddock containing an additional seating and fire pit. The village of Burwash offers tennis courts and the National Trust's Batemans, the 17th Century former home of writer Rudyard Kipling. Head to the bustling market town of Heathfield for a fine selection of shops, takeaways, restaurants and pubs, as well as a host of visitor attractions and the Cuckoo Trail, a walking, cycling and in part, horse riding trail that extends to Eastbourne and has become part of National Cycle Network Route 21. Explore the pristine rural surroundings of the High Weald AONB, where you will discover woodland, farmland and grand Medieval manors, while the coast is just a 30-minute drive away, should you want to spend a day by the sea. Eastbourne offers a 19th Century pier with a bandstand, backed by Victorian hotels, while the historic town of Hastings offers a renovated pier, the ruins of its Norman castle, once home to William the Conqueror, a shingle beach, a fishermen’s museum and shipwreck museum, which offer a sense of its rich maritime history. There is plenty of opportunity to discover wonderful coast and countryside from this excellent holiday home.
