Twisly North Lodge is situated in a private, beautiful and totally secluded setting, on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the outskirts of a private country estate. As the electric gates close behind you the pressures of life start to melt away. The lodge is a spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated detached property refurbished in 2018 to provide stylish accommodation for friends and families in the stunning Sussex countryside. Indoors, it is luxurious and very well equipped, right down to a torch to light your way back from the local pub.

It has four good-sized bedrooms, the master bedroom has its own balcony overlooking the garden – ideal for an early morning coffee while watching the sunrise or reading about Sussex history from the book collection. Another bedroom downstairs has a super kingsize, romantic four poster bed. There is a large dining room, and an even larger sitting room with TV, cinema surround sound and Netflix, as well as an Alexa digital assistant (with music streaming) and a Nintendo Classic game console for children of all ages. There is a selection of board games for when you want to avoid technology, as well as a work desk with access to superfast fibre broadband and Wi-Fi (and USB sockets), just in case work intrudes on your break. The lodge walls are adorned throughout with numerous original paintings by local Sussex artists.

The garden and surroundings are a special feature of the lodge. As you first approach, you notice the climbing roses covering the front wall, and the fabulous setting in private grounds of 1.3 acres: a beautifully maintained 300ft long garden leading to ancient woodland that is a haven for wildlife, including deer, badgers and woodpeckers - the privacy and silence broken only by birdsong. Immediately next to the lodge and accessed via patio doors is a large paved terrace with a dining area, and an all-weather table tennis table for some friendly competition. A selection of outdoor games and toys appropriate for all ages are stored nearby for you and your children to enjoy. A second adjoining area, paved and covered, contains further outdoor seating with a bar, as well as a private hot tub with mood lighting and hydrotherapy jets. All lit by atmospheric fairy lights, so the fun doesn’t have to end when darkness falls. Further down the garden is a wood-fired pizza oven (which makes the most amazing pizzas) and a separate seating area around firepit for those late evening drinks. There is even an outdoor Bluetooth speaker to provide music while you chat and unwind. A beautiful spot to relax whatever the weather and to take in the spectacular sunsets.

Visit the historic market town of Battle and explore the art galleries, antique shops and tea rooms, as well as the site where the Battle of Hastings took place in 1066 overlooked by Battle Abbey, built by William the Conqueror as penance on the orders of the Pope. You may even catch a re-enactment of the battle staged by 1,000 warriors, many on horseback. Sussex is also famous for its spectacular bonfire night celebrations which occur from September onwards in different villages and towns throughout the county each weekend, culminating in Battle in November. The beach at Hastings is a short drive with its iconic black net huts, pier, castle ruins and fish and chips. The medieval Cinque Port town of Rye with its cobbled streets is also nearby, and in the other direction, Bexhill, Pevensey, Eastbourne, Lewes and Brighton all make for great days out. The historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells is a short drive if you need some great shopping, and don’t forget to sample some of the locally produced wines at the many vineyards in the area. There is a leisure centre at nearby Bexhill, as well as bike hire, fishing and golf. Excellent train connections to London for further sightseeing. Beach 4¾ miles. Shop and pub ½ mile, restaurant 1½ miles.
