Barn In Mid Wales, Cantref

Brecon Beacons. Sleeps up to 10

This charming and rustic property is located just 5 miles from Brecon yet enjoys a rural location at the heart of the Welsh countryside. Set on the grounds of a working farm, the property once served as a barn for sheep shearing but has been thoughtfully converted into a spacious retreat for up to ten guests. Discover the local area on foot, by bike, or on horseback, looking out for the resident red kites, peregrine falcons and buzzards that reside here. The waterfalls at Nant Sere under Pen y Fan are perfect for wild swimming if you fancy a dip, or you can keep both feet firmly on dry land and treat the whole family to a day out at Cantref Adventure Farm, a 1 mile drive away. Beneath the stone exterior is a spacious and light filled retreat brimming with original features such as oak beams, vaulted ceilings, and terracotta flooring. The open plan living area consists of a lounge, dining table, and kitchen equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a range cooker with double ovens and a five ring hob. A wood burner in the lounge is perfect for chilly evenings relaxing in front of the TV. A second small snug has a TV/DVD player and a selection of toys and books for younger guests, and there is a handy utility/drying room for storing muddy coats and boots. An additional WC and two bedrooms are also on this level: a twin bedroom with a stable door leading to the patio, and the master bedroom which has an en suite with a bath and WC. Finally, there is a walk in wet room which has been adapted for accessibility. Head upstairs to find a cosy reading nook on the upstairs landing and the remaining bedrooms that share a separate WC. The first is laid out in a quirky dormitory style with four single beds, but two of the beds are zip and link and can be converted into a double on request. The fourth and final bedroom has a comfortable king size bed that can be converted into two 3 single beds if needed. Two extra fold up beds are available on request. Step outside to discover two pretty terraces that have been thoughtfully accessorised with garden furniture and a BBQ for lazy summer evenings. Children can let off some steam playing in the lawned garden, and guests are welcome to use the surrounding fields when they are free from livestock.
