The Old Home Farm - "Yr Hen Aelwyd"

A stunning Welsh Longhouse only three miles from Llanwrtyd Wells, with fabulous views across to the hillside clad in oak and traditional British woodland trees and down the valley for miles toward The Brecon Beacons. The farmhouse has been lovingly restored with love and great attention to detail. During the restoration of the original stonework in one of the bedroom fireplaces, the owners discovered another little room that was once a children's nursery. The beds all have welsh blankets, and downstairs in the back kitchen/utility the old salting slab, the polished through age dark oak stairs and cupboards, original corner cupboards and plenty more - the beam over the fireplace has the date H N CARP 1678 presumably either the initials of the builder or the owners of the farmhouse.

When we visited there was very friendly robin that kept hopping down to meet us from the restored old Mounting Block - conveniently sited for the ladies and gentlemen to mount their horses. The farm house is on a very quiet no-through lane - so no traffic except one neighbour and Glyn Barn which can be booked together to sleep 21/ 22 people.

The farmhouse is situated in the wild and remote countryside above Llanwrtyd Wells - the perfect area for outdoor activities such as mountain biking, walking, fishing on the River Irfon and somewhere to stay for all the events that happen in this small market town. The Man versus Horse Marathon, Real Ale Wobble, Bog Snorkelling amongst the most well known events but also have Wheel Barrow Races, a Worm Charming Contest and lots more wacky events! But this lovely and spacious farmhouse is a perfect place for exploring this superb wild and little known part of Mid Wales within easy reach of The Elan Valley and West Wales Coast.

There are several good pubs and places to eat in the town - that is well used to catering for visitors.
This is the perfect place to be able to spend time with extended family and friends and for a larger party to be able to join up with the neighbouring barn, Glyn Barn (same owners and just across the yard).
