Shepherd's Rest is in an enviable location, amidst acres of countryside, and you can enjoy lots of walking trails, with easy access to the Offa's Dyke trail. Llandyssil village centre is a short walk away, with a small selection of shops and a pub, with the town of Montgomery just over two miles away, with must-see attractions including its 12th century castle ruins, Town Hill County War Memorial, cricket club and selection of cafés, restaurants and shops, as well as a fantastic farmers market held every Thursday. The excellent 9-hole course of Lakeside Golf Course is just over a mile away, with a driving range, putting green and restaurant overlooking the golf course and the River Severn. The historic town of Bishop's Castle is within easy reach, with a fantastic nature reserve, the House on Crutches Museum, which makes for a fascinating day out, and many walking and cycling trails, including a steady climb up Cordon Hill, or alternatively take the scenic route through the Mid Wales countryside on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway.
