The Crown, in the village of Llangattock, which was once a very popular pub dating back to the 1890's, has been converted into a warm, comfortable, welcoming and immaculate cottage - attractively designed with many of the furnishings and fabrics by Designer Sarah Frost who happens to live locally. The views from the garden across to Llangattock Mountain and The Sugar Loaf invite guests to venture out and explore the great out doors, on foot, on a bike, in the car or on horse back. The village also offers easy access to Crickhowell with all it's attractions -restaurants, independant shops, pubs and coffee shops.

Sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms:

The entrance lobby has double doors so there is room for coats and boots and perhaps room to wipe down a wet dog.

The galley style kitchen is easy to use and is well equipped with a gas hob and an electric cooker, microwave, under counter fridge and a separate freezer, dishwasher and a washing machine; the dining room has a long dining table and chairs - perfect for a dinner party or for just doing a jigsaw. I noticed a good supply of board games, jigsaws etc.

A step down to the comfortable sitting room with the wood burning stove set in the stone fireplace ensures this room is always warm and cosy. There is a flat screen Freeview smart TV and DVD player with a selection of DVD's .

Bedroom 1: A kingsize bed in a very spacious bedroom with lovely views across the pretty cottage gardens and roof scapes to Llangattock Escarpment.

Bedroom 2: Twin bedroom.

The bathroom is elegant and contemporary with an excellent shower over the bath, handbasin and toilet.

The back door leads out to a small court yard with garden table and chairs - perfect for a cup of coffee in the morning and to read the papers in the sunshine. Then up a couple of steps and down a little path to a "surprise secret garden" - a large safe and enclosed garden with a patio with garden furniture, lawn and flowers, perfect for visitors with children or dogs where they can play in compete safety. The woodshed is down here and offers safe lock up for three mountain bikes. There is a back gate to a cobbled lane that leads back to the village.

Useful information

Great Location - The Crown is a great location for a family holiday with such easy access for walking on Llangattock Mountain with The Blorenge beyond, over to Table Mountain and The Sugar Loaf above Crickhowell in The Black Mountains and just a bit further up the River Usk Valley Brecon and The Beacons. From the cottage there are three excellent restaurants in the village , The Old Rectory, The Horse Shoe Pub and the Vinetree. Then over the River in Crickhowell there is The Bridge End - all within a 10 minute flat walk. Visitors here are spoilt for choice with the many local pubs and eating houses, The Bear winner for many years of Best Pub Award, The Dragon and several other pubs and cafes.

Fishing nearby - There is trout and salmon fishing on the River Usk, coarse fishing on the canal and there is of course excellent "flat" walking along the interesting tow path, with its many traditionally painted canal boats. Abergavenny, Gateway to Wales is 6 miles and the Severn Bridge is approximately 40 minutes drive. The Heads of The Valley Road is again easily accessible so anyone working or visiting family in the Welsh Valleys this is a good location to stay.
