With the sparkling and swiftly flowing River Windrush racing through the broad expanse of village green, the ’Venice of the Cotswolds’ as Bourton is referred to, is a treat for visitors no matter what time of year. With its graceful low stone bridges spanning the small river at intervals, the centre of the village is picture postcard perfect throughout the seasons. The Roman road, the Fosse Way, is a major access route running across the area, taking the visitor from Moreton-in-Marsh in the north to Cirencester in the south. Local Bourton attractions include the Model Village, Motor Museum and Birdland. Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Kenilworth castles are all within a comfortable drive.
Bourton on the Water has a host of facilities including a very good supermarket , petrol station, cafes and restaurants , New for 2019 is a restaurant on the river called
De La Hayes which sells breakfast , lunch ,afternoon teas, and dinner , we have lost our bank which is now a new fish and chip shop overlooking the river

Cotswold Motoring Museum and Fosse Gallery Fine Art are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Sezincote House & Garden and Chastleton House. Dragonfly Maze and Birdland Park and Gardens are also worth visiting. Fishing and swimming offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with horse riding and cycling nearby.
