Be prepared to step into a world where rest will come easy. The sound of birdsong and not much else. Pentir is a world of its own making - a garden to be enchanted by, sculptures that will make you wish you were an artist and a garden room with views you will never wish to leave. We were hard pressed to leave this magical house after a wonderful day photographing her. From fresh vegetables to easy walks on the coastal footpath to Penmon. Life just doesn't get better.
Enter Pentir and feel your shoulders drop and your soul relax. An easy going and much loved family house that insists you make yourself at home. A perfect hideaway for a couple, for friends holidaying together or for a family of six.
A family kitchen sits at the heart of the house packed with everything you could need as the owners enjoy cooking - they even leave you herbs and spices as this is not somewhere you pop out if you forget something. This is a hideaway for those who wish to get away from the rush of modern life. Next to the kitchen sits a comfortable sitting room centred around the all important cosy log fire. A dining table for gatherings sits to one side awaiting feasts and stories. Open the door to an outside courtyard with views along the old deer park wall to Puffin Island beyond - a suntrap in the afternoon. The original cottage is evident here - the old stone walls, the boundaries set years before, beautiful is an understatement and magical is not strong enough to describe this location.
With families all important there are two double bedrooms with super comfy beds and soft feather duvets await sleepy heads. The master bedroom with king sized beds and enormous pillows with an ensuite dressing room and shower too. Then the magic begins - up the steep stairs from the sitting room sits a crog loft that becomes a magical escape for two older children. The stairs alone a work of art though steep for some and low for others take care. Simple mattresses on the floor allow for a den like feel - not for tall adults as this is a magical make believe den for sensible children.
Downstairs a family bathroom with a bath that dreams of bubbles awaits those who love to relax awhile. No need to rush and shower when time slows down here. With hot water upon demand a glass of fizz in hand and a quiet read is one dream that can come true.
Pentir's pièce de résistance sits green and wild outside, a boundary of ancient stone surrounding a garden of wonder. With seating areas that allow you to follow the sun and a garden room ready for long lazy dinners outside there can be no simpler joy than this. Should the day be breezier than you wish, shelter within on recliner chairs and read or paint for the scenery will inspire. Garden paths lead you around gently, offering views at each turn. The owners are gardeners and generous ones too. Enjoy. Relax.
Dog walking and exploring the coastal path requires a gentle lift of the gate fastening and off you go. Puffin Island and Penmon are within an easy walk - just follow the ancient deer park wall to explore this historic site. Penmon Priory and Dovecote await your interest. The lighthouse bell draws you toward it to be mesmerised by the sea views and changing seas. A rewarding lunch or indulgent tea at the dog friendly Pilot House Café should make the walk all the more enjoyable. An easy ten minute car journey away explorers will find the stunning seaside town of Beaumaris with Castle, pier, gaol and lifeboat. Shops, pubs and restaurants abound. Further on more beaches await at Llanddona and Red Wharf Bay. Pentir is such an easy base for those who wish to get away from it all or for those who wish for quiet after a day exploring Anglesey and Snowdonia
Located in Beaumaris, this apartment is by the sea. Baron Hill Golf Club and Clwb Golff St. Deiniol Bangor Golf Club are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those looking for area attractions can visit Treasure Island Fun Centre and The Penny Farthing Sweet Shop. Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens and James Pringle Weavers are also worth visiting.
