Great Family House With Lovely Garden And Downstairs Bedroom, Keyhaven

New Forest. Sleeps up to 8

This is a fun place to hideout on holiday. We love the private garden, the tiny treehouse, little gazebo and lots of outdoor toys. The styling here is simple, colourful and pretty. The bedrooms are sleek and lovely. Its well set up for families with multiple-generations.

Stay here for a good slice of coast. The seaside, at Keyhaven hamlet, is approx 2.5kms down a quiet lane. But we prefer to go via the footpath next door, through the wide fields, all with sea views and the Isle of Wight in the distance.

The centre of things here is the pub and sailing clubs, there are no shops, just lovely views and the boat trip to Hurst Castle. Equidistant (and with a whole lot more going on) is Milford on Sea village which and has amazing foodie options, there are some lovely independent shops there too. Go further afield, (all of 5 miles) to Lymington for more. Don’t miss Keyhaven for water-y activities, and Milford for miles of epic beaches.

Inside

You'll park by the front door which takes you inside to the base of the stairs and into the sitting room area. The house is set up for families who will appreciate the thoughtful owners who've put a huge amount of effort and detail into this cottage. The kitchen is new, has plenty of kit for cooking, good views of the garden on both sides, and a separate dining room with a table to seat everyone will be perfect for family meals.

There is a good downstairs bedroom and ensuite shower - useful for those who don't want to climb stairs.

Upstairs bedrooms are all a nice size for a small cottage. Each will fit a travel cot in. The green and blue bedrooms feel a little bit chi-chi, the kids bedroom is fun, with quirky details.

The upstairs bathroom is particularly smart with dark blue walls and a giant circular mirror. Post-beach-walk-baths will be indulgent.

Outside

The garden at the back is mainly flat and has good views to the pony paddocks beyond.

There is a small play gazebo in the garden too.

The dining room has double doors that open up onto a small terrace. To the left, with access from the kitchen door, is another terrace with a solid table for outdoor meals. This seats 8.

Home truths

The treehouse is small, and quite high, so won't be suitable for all kids. The owners have hung a rope ladder for access which will help filter small children who don't have the strength to climb up.

We ask guests to sign a waiver if they are going to use it. You can tie up the rope ladder to stop little ones getting access.

One complimentary basket of logs will be provided for your stay (Nov - March). Feel free to bring your own for any extra.

Accessibility

You can park within 5 metres of the house. There is a small step into the house from the front. The downstairs bedroom has an ensuite bathroom but it doesn't have any special handles or grab rails. To get into the outside terrace you need to step over the door lintel but otherwise it's flat.

The stairs to the second floor have a good solid handrail.
