Set in a delightful village location, the cottage sleeps 4-5 people, with 2 bedrooms plus additional sitting room/landing with sofa bed, ample living room, separate eat-in kitchen, family bathroom and downstairs cloakroom. The living room has comfy sofas around a large stone fireplace with log-burning stove. The kitchen is well-equipped, with dishwasher, electric oven, microwave, fridge and freezer. The master bedroom has a double bed, exposed beams and a glimpse of the surrounding hills. The second bedroom (downstairs) looks out onto the garden and has 2 single beds which can be locked together for a king size, and a hand basin. There is off road parking for up to three cars. The secluded walled garden to the rear is a real little sun-trap, with a patio, table and chairs and charcoal barbecue available. See photos and floor plan here.
The cottage, which has internet connection, is situated on a quiet lane, with only the neighbours’ cars passing and the occasional horse. The excellent Pandy Inn is in the centre of the village, about a two minute walk away. Opposite the pub is the award winning Dorstone’s Front Roomopen from 9am to 1pm Mondays to Fridays – the place to go for tourist info, local crafts, and a great cup of coffee and home made cake – they love having visitors!
Country walks are available in every direction. The cottage is well suited as a base for country pursuits, with washer/dryer and airing cupboard, and a shed available to store bicycles. Hay-on-Wye and the Brecon Beacons National Park lie about 5 miles to the west of Dorstone.
