Stable Lads Cottage is a stylish holiday cottage to sleep 6 guests in three bedrooms. With roaring fires, comfy beds, beautiful Juliet balcony, well equipped kitchen and spacious design this cottage has all the ingredients for a wonderful holiday. There's even a little climbing wall (with rubber matting for children).

Originally a farm built to serve Maesllwch Castle, Glanhenwye lies between the picturesque 15th century castle and the River Wye at Glasbury. The cobbled courtyard retains many of its 18th century features including beautiful stone arches and the original stalls for the horses. Stable Lads Cottage and its neighbouring cottages, The Hay Loft and Owls Roost form an L-shape around a picturesque cobbled courtyard.

Sleeps 6 in 2 Doubles, 1 Twin, 2 Bathrooms

Come through the front door at Stable Lads Cottage and into a flag stoned entrance hall. The double height ceilings and grand proportions are immediately evident.

The open plan sitting/dining room has comfortable sofas, wood burning stove, TV incorporating free NOW TV, DVD, and music system. The dining area features an original ?range fireplace? and the whole cottage enjoys the large, triple aspect large windows with shutters and beautiful wood floors.

The kitchen has an electric cooker, hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer, as well as ample work and storage space. A window looks on to the courtyard and this room also has a door leading out to the terrace and the courtyard. Again, an original fireplace and range provide a lovely feature.

Upstairs the double-height ceilings continue and a bright and spacious landing leads to:

Bedroom 1: Has a double bed with a beautiful circular window, high on the wall behind it. The en-suite bathroom is light with a glazed door and 'Juliet' balcony overlooking the gardens. Has a bath with a shower over it, a toilet and a hand basin.

Bedroom 2: A double bed with courtyard views

Bedroom 3: A spacious bedroom and twin beds - this room has fabulous oak beams and a lovely feature fireplace.

The family bathroom has a bath, toilet, hand basin and large shower.

The sunny decked area behind the cottage makes a lovely spot for an evening drink.

There are some excellent local gastro-pubs and restaurants within easy driving distance, Foyles and The River Cafe on the River Wye at Glasbury on Wye just 5 minutes up the lane is always good fun and serves excellent food. Stable Lads Cottageis only a few minutes drive to Hay-on-Wye, The Llanthony Valley and Gospel Pass, Herefordshire countryside and of course Brecon and the stunning Beacons are just across the valley. The River Wye is just below the house and Trout and Salmon fishing is available on discussion with the Usk and Wye Foundation.

Ideal for large groups, great for entertaining with its three luxury cottages providing accommodation for up to 20 people, Glanhenwye would be a wonderful choice for a holiday with the extended family, a break with other families or a large group of friends.

Beautiful, mature gardens lie behind the cottages and a private terrace area is provided for each. Children will love the vast lawns behind the cottages, and the small children's Climbing Wall (rubber mats provided) and they are welcome to explore and play in the large field nearby.

Just 4 miles up the road, or 2 hours by canoe is Hay-on-Wye. The 'Town of Books' is fascinating, the shops there will not only provide for all your practical needs but also offer hours of browsing. There are boutique clothes shops, antique dealers; retailer's catering for crafts and interiors amongst many other things. There are some excellent pubs and restaurants and the most wonderful, old-fashioned sweetie shop. The little shops sit along quaint, narrow streets with the stunning and picturesque backdrop of Hay's 12th century, partially ruined castle.

Glanhenwye is also ideally located near The Begwyns, an upland moorland area. Largely unexplored, there are no set walks just a vast, wild and beautiful area to enjoy.
