Nestled within the rolling hills of Herefordshire and surrounded on all four sides by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is the perfect place to enjoy the English rural idyll, with plenty of railway history thrown in! The accommodation is situated on the site of the original station building which was operational from 1861 - 1965, and has been rebuilt in the style of a typical Great Western Railway building of the Victorian/Edwardian era.
Dog friendly, but we stipulate a two dog maximum.
The space
This beautiful station building is divided into two self-contained holiday lets, The Booking Office (this three bed property) and The Waiting Room (a two bed property). For larger groups, both cottages can be booked to provide sleeping for 10 people.
GROUND FLOOR
The main entrance is accessed via the sheltered "corridor" in the centre of the building, opening up into a spacious lobby area with stone fire surround housing a double sided wood burning stove, linked through to the living room. Off the entrance lobby guests benefit from a utility area, downstairs shower room with WC and a well equipped kitchen with a tasteful modern finish which captures the rural country charm, comprising of a range of well stocked wall & base units, electric oven & hob, fridge/freezer, integrated dishwasher and a vast array of kitchen tools, pots, pans, glassware, crockery and more. Through an exposed brick archway off the kitchen lies the spacious living room, with large handmade Elm dining table, rear access door out onto the platform, and plenty of seating, naturally all centred around the other face of the wood burning stove, sat in a stone surround with handmade Elm mantelpiece.
FIRST FLOOR
Up the stairs you will find a family bathroom with corner bath and mains shower, a good size twin room with two single beds, built-in wardrobe, bedside tables, chest of drawers and a blanket/luggage box under Velux window. The master bedroom is a spacious double with king size bed, bedside tables, dressing table/drawers, built-in wardrobe, blanket box under the Velux window and access on through to the en-suite with WC and wash hand basin. Across the landing is another spacious double with king size bed sat under the Velux window (perfect for stargazing!), bedside tables, chest of drawers, wardrobe and access on through to en-suite housing wash hand basin and WC.
EXTERIOR
Outside guests can enjoy a meal or a drink sat on the private platform patio, which is a charming spot to sit and enjoy the historic feel come rain or shine, sheltered by the station overhang. Or bask in the sunshine out on the platform lawns & BBQ area, a relaxing setting with unspoilt views over the glorious Herefordshire countryside. The platform garden is largely enclosed with one exit point, with secure fencing to the railway line. In addition to this, there's ample outdoor space within the station yard, including a larger lawn immediately opposite the cottages where guests can play garden games or simply read a book in a shaded spot under trees. This also makes for a great area to play with your K9 friend!
