A wonderful spacious, remote and secluded holiday cottage near Hay on Wye to sleep 8 guests with four bedrooms and three bathrooms; the house is warm and cosy with an Aga and an open fire.
This special house certainly has the "WOW" factor. With glorious far reaching views, set in a safe enclosed garden lovely for children to play. Opening out to its own wild flower meadow where Larks can still be heard singing.
This stylish Welsh Longhouse has glorious views - and is in a magnificent location looking out to Hay Bluff, The Brecon Beacons and The Black Mountains National Park. The house is set on the edge of the National Trust moorland The Begwyns Hills. Only three and a half miles from Hay-on-Wye in The Welsh Marches and close to Clyro and Painscastle. Perhaps ideal for two families sharing.
The house is lovingly cared for and decorated in a slightly "shabby chic" and eclectic style with some gorgeous fabrics, bright colours, original pieces of art work, antiques and paintings - a really interesting and charming place to stay.

A utility room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
Reading room with dining table and chairs and electric fire - somewhere to be tucked away with a book.
The sitting room is warm and cost with sofas set around a wood burning stove. There is an ample supply of wood to make sure everyone is warm in the coldest of winters.

Beyond the sitting room there is a conservatory with another dining area and again glorious views.

The house is well off the road and is reached down a private drive. When we first visited it was so beautiful with a wildflower meadow in front of the house, so you can sit and look over that at the views beyond. There are also well cared for gardens and lawns for visitors to enjoy. Ample places to sit and enjoy this peaceful location and panoramic views. Along with all this, there is plenty of space for children to kick a football or play a game of cricket. A terrace with garden furniture and a BBQ.

The neighbouring villages of Painscastle and Clyro both have excellent pubs that serve good food. The Roast Ox in Painscastle is well worth a visit - do not be surprised if you find the car park full of tethered ponies as the neighbouring pony trekking stables often stop there. Down in the village of Clyro there is a garage with village shop and 14th century Drovers Inn, The Rhydspence.
In Hay-on-Wye (renown for Hay Literary Festival held in May) with the picturesque castle overlooking the town, you will be spoilt for choice with the great variety of second hand bookshops, antique shops, boutique style shops and plenty of places to eat and drink. There is a local butcher and greengrocer, delicatessen and a couple of small grocery shops - many selling organic local produce. Hay has an outdoor local produce market on a Thursday selling locally grown produce, homemade cakes, fruit juices, honey, jams, crafts and rugs!!!! and much, much more. When in Hay it is a "must" to try Shepherds Ice Cream made from the milk of sheep.
Hay-on-Wye of course is a haven for all types of visitors who enjoy outdoor activities, whether you are a keen walker or enjoy a ramble, want to fish, canoe, swim or just sit beside the River Wye. Go for a serious horse ride or just a pony trek, go gliding in nearby Talgarth or go for a scenic drive around the local villages and stop for lunch in a country pub or a cream tea. There are plenty of castle and abbeys to visit and I would recommend the drive through The Llantony Valley to Capel-y-Ffin to Llantony Abbey or over to Abbeydore. With Offa's Dyke Path, The Three Castle Walk, Mortimer Trail all very close to Hay-on-Wye and the Welsh Marches you are really spoilt for choice when staying here whatever time of the year.
