The house is warm and comfortable with ample parking so ideal for a group of friends all meeting up for a weekend. Hay has so much to offer - there are the bookshops that everyone has heard about but there are also numerous excellent cafes, restaurants and pubs serving good food. There are some really excellent independent boutique and shops and a fascinating permanent antique market, an outside market on a Thursday and a Farmers Market another day. Hay is always buzzing with visitors and local people - make sure you try Shepherds award winning ice cream beside the Butter Market, Booths Bookshop Cafe and restaurant where there is also a cinema - but do book your tickets in advance. Hay Castle is now being restored and worth a visit even if just to admire the views from the castle grounds over the surrounding countryside.
Just outside Hay make sure you visit The River Cafe on The River Wye at Glasbury and perhaps if you are feeling active hire out some mountain bikes or try your hand in a canoe or for a bit of fun you can now hire out Vespa Scooters. Make sure you always return to the Cafe if only for a drink and one of their famous muffins.
