Fishermans Cottage is a former net drying house in the Black Isle village of North Kessock. Ideally situated beside the Beauly Firth and enjoying views across the water to Inverness, Fishermans Cottage is a very special holiday home that we urge you to book for either a short break or week-long stay. Set only thirty yards back from the high tide mark, Fishermans Cottage is perched on a plateau just up the hillside and has an unobstructed view of the sea. Walking through the cute little garden gate you step up through the landscaped plot to the cottage, but immediately you’re distracted by two things: first the wooden building in the garden off to the right and secondly the lovely patio that nestles in the garden and enjoys an awesome vantage point for views across the firth. The wooden building is a Finnish sauna that has a remarkable sea view window – a truly unique feature that’s perfect year-round.
Entering through the front door you arrive into a fantastic open-plan living/dining/kitchen space where stairs lead up out of to the mezzanine level. The open plan space has a wood burner as a centrepiece and of course an amazing view to enjoy thanks to patio doors that lead to the lovely seating area in the garden. There’s a Smart TV if you want a break from looking at the amazing view, and the kitchen is very well equipped for you to rustle up anything you fancy whilst at the cottage. There’s a utility room off of the kitchen which is very handy for longer stays. Also on the ground floor is the double bedroom with en-suite shower room, as well as a bathroom for the twin room on the mezzanine level. The twin room space is great for children as it also comes with a second living room complete with another TV – perfect for plugging in those games consoles.
Fishermans Cottage will suit families but really it’s a perfect romantic getaway. Couples can enjoy the fire pit on the patio and of course the sauna, and with all these there’s an amazing sea view on top. It’s a luxurious stay in a brilliant location.
As difficult as it is to leave Fishermans Cottage we urge you to do so during your stay to explore this great part of the world. You’re just over the Kessock Bridge from Inverness and on the Black Isle, an awesome patch of land that’s technically not an island but feels like it with many amazing beaches and coastal villages to explore. Fortrose, Rosemarkie and Cromarty are all places to make a beeline for and enjoy beaches, breweries and places to eat and drink. You’ve also got to keep an eye out for dolphins from Chanonry Point and between the Sutors near Cromarty – there’s a resident pod of over 200 bottlenose dolphins in the Moray and Beauly Firths, and they even journey round to in front of Fishermans Cottage from time-to-time. We recommend going further afield too following the NC500 touring route to the far north of Scotland and the wild west. John O’Groats, the Isle of Skye and Applecross are great day-trip options. To the south Loch Ness is just beyond Inverness across the water and you can be in the Cairngorms National Park in 30 minutes. Don’t hesitate in booking this fabulous, luxurious holiday home in what is the most amazing spot. Beach 12 miles.
