Firth Cottage is a pretty semi-detached cottage situated in tranquil wooded grounds in the hamlet of Alcaig on the Black Isle. The owners also live within the two acre grounds.
Firth Cottage features stunning views of the Cromarty Firth with the mountains of Easter Ross beyond from the large open-plan living area. It's a view which constantly changes with the tide and light. The tidal firth is a haven for wildlife and ospreys can be seen most days in the summer months from the cottage fishing over the firth, and in the winter thousands of geese can be seen in the fields and overhead.
The cottage is spotlessly clean, modern, well-equipped and peaceful.
There are two bedrooms that can sleep a maximum of four people. It has a very spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, washer-dryer machine, gas hob, electric oven, microwave and fridge with a small freezer compartment. Of the two bedrooms, one contains a king size bed while the other has twin beds. Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.
The lounge has a TV with Freeview, a DVD Player with a selection of DVDs, a CD/Radio, books, games and an abundance of leaflets and useful information. There is under-floor heating throughout with individually controllable thermostats in each room, and a heated towel radiator in the shower room.
From the lounge, french doors open out onto the private patio area with a table and chairs. There are shared wooded gardens which host an abundance of bird life. The cottage is located at the end of a private drive and has parking for two cars.
Despite the peace and quiet, the cottage is conveniently located for the town of Dingwall (3 miles away) and the Highland's capital Inverness (12 miles). It is also the perfect base for touring the Highlands being at the hub of the road network. Some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK - Glen Affric, Loch Ness, Torridon, Assynt - is less than an hour away. The Black Isle itself has historical villages like Cromarty, great beaches such as Rosemarkie, and Chanonry Point which is the best land location to see dolphins in the UK.
Two well-behaved pets may be allowed at no extra cost but only by arrangement.
In short, Firth Cottage offers you the opportunity to stay in a clean, comfortable, quiet location with exceptional views and be perfectly located for the best the Highlands has to offer.
Located in Dingwall, this cottage is in a rural area and by the sea. Dingwall Museum and Tore Art Gallery are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Glen Ord Distillery and Muir of Ord Golf Club. Traveling with kids? Consider Wildwoodz Paintball and Lasertag Park, or check out an event or a game at Fairburn Activity Centre. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
