Culloden Moor, just outside the city, is the site of the Culloden Battlefield (National Trust). The location of the last major combat fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display representing the battle, and a stroll over the battlefield serves as a sad remembrance of the clansmen who died.

Inverness Museum and Art Gallery and Eden Court Theatre are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Torvean Golf Club and Tomatin Distillery.
