West Cottage was built around 1870 as a typical croft house with a byre beside it but gradually deteriorated during the 1990s until it was in danger of becoming derelict. In 2007 the old cottage was stripped back to the stone shell; it was re-roofed and completely refurbished to a very high standard and a large living-room was built on the end of the old house on the site of the former byre. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation over 2 floors. The living room, kitchen/dining and double bedroom with en-suite shower are on the ground floor with a further double bedroom, twin room and bathroom upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The living room has well-stocked book shelves, a wood burning stove and a colour TV. There is wifi throughout the house.
Located in Isle of Skye, this cottage is in a rural area and near the beach. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Traigh a' Chnuic and Traigh Ostaig, while Museum of the Isles and Mallaig Heritage Centre are cultural highlights. Magpie and Isle of Skye Market Square are also worth visiting. Sailing and fishing offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with mountain biking and mountain climbing nearby.
