Chilham 2.5 miles. A romantic retreat in an idyllic churchyard in the Kent Downs, Ella's Loft has been beautifully converted from a cart barn into this fabulous one bedroom holiday accommodation. Located in the village of Godmersham, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, near to the village of Chilham and the historic city of Canterbury, Ella's Loft is the ideal base for a couple to begin an exploration of this ancient region, with the Pilgrim's Way providing the perfect starting point. Once you have parked in the off-road parking space, travel up the decking stairs, past the lovely outdoor furniture and into the loft to be welcomed into the open-plan living space. A neat layout boasts all you need for a relaxing self-catered break, with a sofa set before the TV, light pouring in from the large windows, a bright colour scheme and a compact, well-equipped kitchen space, including an electric oven and hob, a fridge, and an amazing dishwasher built into the wall to conserve space. A winged dining table with folding chairs offers a clever space to enjoy a meal for two, or head outside and take advantage of your own private decking space with some alfresco dining, keeping warm in the evening with the outdoor heater. Delight in a bit of luxury on your holiday by winding down in the hot tub, placed on raised decking; you can admire the lovely countryside setting as the warm waters bubble. Back inside the loft, you can find a beautiful bathroom, complete with an Aqualisa Smart shower over the large bath. The lovely bedroom is home to a king-size bed and features more innovative storage, with drawers for your belongings built into the wall, as well as pretty bedding and furnishings. The charming village of Godmersham, resting in the heart of the Kent Downs, has connections to one of England's favourite novelists, Jane Austen, visited often by the author thanks to her brother Edward who lived at Godmersham Park, it was said she got inspiration for her novels Emma, Pride & Prejudice and Mansfield Park here. Excellent walks can be enjoyed from your doorstep, making use of the country lanes, the North Downs Way and the Pilgrims Way enjoying the beautiful natural scenery along the way. Visit the incredible historic city of Canterbury to see the amazing Canterbury Cathedral, famous for its shrine of medieval archbishop Thomas Beckett, see the award-winning Canterbury Tales attraction, where Chaucer's medieval England has been recreated bringing you the sights, sounds, and smells of history, and enjoy a fun day at Howletts Wild Animal Park, which has exotic and endangered species including gorillas, lions and tigers. One of the best ways to see this pilgrimage destination is via the water, take a seat in a classic hand-built punt on the River Stour, with guided tours explaining the history as you go, you can take in the city scenery. Ella's Loft is a fabulous romantic escape in the Kent Downs.
