Resting in the former fishing port of Arnside, Cumbria, is this charming detached cottage, The Coach House. Fabulously decorated with a traditional and homely interior, The Coach House is a lovely setting for a family adventure to The Lake District. Ample off-road parking greets you on the gravel driveway at the front of the property, perfect for guests wanting to forget about the car and head off to explore the sights on foot. Stepping into the cottage you're welcomed into a small vestibule, providing a handy space to store muddy boots after the day’s adventure, featuring an adjoining boiler room housing a convenient washing machine to freshen up your walking gear. Continue through to the sitting area, beautifully-appointed with light and airy décor, and featuring traditional wooden furnishings, encouraging a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Nestle in around the television on the rustic leather sofa for a well-deserved rest, heating the room with the warmth of the living flame gas fire in the cooler evenings. The open-plan kitchen/diner also boasts a traditional décor, with a remarkable exposed stone feature wall and contrasting wooden kitchen cupboards, fit with all of the amenities necessary to prepare a heart-warming meal for the family to enjoy gathered around the dining table. As the evening grows darker, head upstairs where you have the choice of two bedrooms, a king-size or a twin, both decorated with a neutral colour scheme and sustaining the property's delightful traditional character through the wooden furnishings. The king-size bedroom benefits from patio doors, flooding the room with natural light and leading to the raised garden area at the back of the property, where you can enjoy a refreshing glass of wine with your loved one with a view of the surrounding greenery in the evening. Completing the first floor is the newly renovated family bathroom, contemporary in design with gleaming silver accents and featuring a bath with an overhead shower, giving you the choice of enjoying a leisurely soak or washing away the day. Take a stroll into the village of Arnside, home to an array of quaint shops, cafes and restaurants, making a stop at The Albion, a traditional waterfront pub where you can indulge in a well-deserved pit stop and soak in the views across the estuary. Take on the challenge of the Cross Bay Walk, an 8-mile guided tour crossing the sands of the ever-changing flats and channels of Morecambe Bay to reach the village of Kent's Bank. Travel further afield to the historic market town of Kendal, home to the Kendal mint cake, where limestone buildings line the streets, housing an array of independent shops to pick up a keepsake of your trip. Discover the local heritage with a visit to The Quaker Tapestry Museum and the medieval ruins of Kendal Castle or take in the scenic view across the rooftops of Kendal at Serpentine Woods. Perfectly positioned between both The Lake District National Park and The Yorkshire Dales National Park, there are plenty of walking, hiking and cycling routes within easy reach to suit all abilities. Thrill seekers can climb to the summit of Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England or explore the exciting depths of White Scar Cave in the Yorkshire Dales.
