Heath End Lodge, Ashby-De-La-Zouch

Leicestershire. Sleeps up to 3

Heath End Lodge is a former gatehouse that sits at the southern entrance to Calke Abbey. Built in 1806, the lodge is Grade II listed and boasts an open fire and large lawn area. Its intriguing pentagonal shape and large windows create a bright and spacious interior where light streams in from the open landscape.

Enjoy an alfresco breakfast before exploring the estate via a path at the back of the property leading to the abbey. After you’ve finished exploring, head out on another well-trodden footpath into the surrounding countryside.

Further afield, the Ferrers Centre for Arts and Crafts is a fabulous place to discover a range of artisans including blacksmiths, sculptors, upholsterers and potters.
