In the grounds of the main house, these four properties are perfect for short breaks for couples and families wishing to explore the wonderful area of Rutland, the UK’s smallest county.
Within a short walk you will find yourself on the Rutland water circular path; the more adventurous may wish to complete the whole 24-mile route on foot, or by bike. You may get distracted though, as you need to pass the village pub to get to the water! There are many activities to take part in and places to visit during your time in Rutland. There is something for everyone, head to the nature reserve to observe the Rutland Osprey Project; hire bikes for a ride in the 4,200 acres of open countryside; enjoy adrenalin fuelled water sports, including sailing, canoeing, paddle boarding and windsurfing; go fishing; play a round of golf, be it 18 hole or crazy golf; or simply relax on the seasonal beach. The historic market towns of Oakham and Uppingham are within 3 miles and enjoy an array of antique shops and galleries, independent shops and eateries to discover. A little further is the historic Georgian town of Stamford 12 miles, with its cobbled streets and individual shops. Lyddington Bede House and Rockingham Castle are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Rutland Water Golf Course and Corby Tennis Centre. The Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre and Barnsdale Gardens are also worth visiting. Fishing offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with horse riding nearby.
