The village pub, The Nags head, is one of the oldest pubs in Leicestershire with a family-friendly atmosphere, whilst the Vale of Belvoir trail is excellent for walking routes along the canal and cycle routes ranging from easy to challenging. Lying in the heart of the Vale sits Bottesford, home to The Thatch restaurant, a Grade I listed building dating back to the 17th century, now hosting a contemporary wine lounge and tapas bar! A popular local attraction is Belvoir Castle just five miles from Bankside House and a fabulous day out for the whole family; an open-air cinema, concerts and firework displays are just some of the annual events hosted in this historic setting, while The Engine Yard just across the way has shops, garden centres, and the Balloon bar serving a variety of gins. Visit Belton House for gorgeous parks surrounding a Grade I listed country house, along with a wooden adventure park, cafes, restaurants, and the well-known golf course close by. Travel to Melton Mowbray to see the curious two-headed cow for yourself at Melton Carnegie Museum, wander the marvelous country park, and visit the renowned Twinlakes amusement park.
